The Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910, less than three years after the Scouting Movement was first started by Lord Baden-Powell with the publishing of Scouting for Boys in the United Kingdom.

Troop One Hingham was established in 1910 and is proud to be among the first troops to be chartered in the United States. The first sponsor for the troop was the Village Improvement Society and the Reverend Robinson of the Congregational Church was its first Scoutmaster.
